Senator Tim Cullen and Rep. Debra Kolste will host a budget listening session at UW-Rock County. This session will be in the evening, to give people who work during the day a chance to weigh in.

For the last ten years she served as a senior analyst for the Washington, D.C.-based consumer group Public Citizen in its Global Trade Watch division. She has investigated and documented the impact of international trade agreements on public policy including in the areas of financial services, health care, toxics regulation, food safety, and the environment. Prior to her stint at Public Citizen, Mary was press secretary for U.S. Senator Russ Feingold and worked for many years in the Wisconsin State Senate. She has an M.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.A. from Bryn Mawr College. She lives in Madison, Wisconsin with her family. Her favorite Wisconsin cheese is Prairie Ridge Reserve.

Join us in welcoming Bonnie Block and Joy First

Bonnie Block and Joy First are long-time peace activists and between them are involved in various peace groups including Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice, Madison Pledge of Resistance, Wisconsin Coalition to Ground the Drones and End the Wars, the National Campaign for Nonviolent Resistance and the Dane County Chapter of the United Nations Association.

They will be speaking about drone warfare and why it is a violation of human rights and international law. They will share what is happening in Wisconsin and around the nation in resistance to drone warfare and tell how individuals can get involved. They will also talk about why they engage in nonviolent civil resistance and what happens if one is arrested and goes to trial. They will talk about the principles of nonviolence and their belief that real social change will only happen through the practice of active nonviolence.
